Description

Volcano Acatenango is the sleeping giant twin to one of the most active volcanoes in Guatemala. Acatenango is the third highest volcano in all of Central America. A truly unique experience to hike to the top, observe the sunset and sunrise and sleep overnight at base camp. The highest summit is 3,976m.

Day 1

• 7:30am Pick-up from your hotel in Antigua and shuttle to La Soledad village.
• 8:00am Arrive at La Soledad village.
• 10:00am Begin the ascent for approximately 5 hours.
• 3:00pm Arrive at base camp to enjoy the view of the volcano erupting and observe the sunset.

Day 2

• 4:00am Wake-up to hike for sunrise to the top of Acatenango, approximately 1 hour.
• 7:00am Return to base camp for breakfast.
• 8:30am Begin the descent down to the pick-up point.
• 11:30am Arrive at pick-up point for transfer back to Antigua.
• 12:30pm Arrive back to Antigua (Approximately).

Where We Meet

The adventure begins from Antigua. We will pick you up at your hotel and bring you back on the next day.

What You Should Know

Included: Pick-up and drop-off from your hotel, transports, equipment (tent, sleeping bag and mattress), 3 meals, hot beverages and bilingual tour guide
Not included: entrance fee GTQ 100.00 per person (tips optional)

What to bring: Backpack 30 lts (recommendable), 2 liter of water, sunscreen, warm clothing, rain jacket, hiking shoes, headlamp, walking stick, extra food like snacks and personal stuffs.
